Q I keep reading about a "naya.". Exactly, what is a "naya."
AThe "naya" is the traditional covered terrace with open arches. Originally designed for drying grapes, the "naya" is now the area of a villa where you will find table and chairs for al fresco meals. In some villas the "naya" may be glazed, giving an additional sunroom, particularly used in the cooler months. In an old farmhouse the naya will face south. In modern villas architects have used a bit of latitude and the "naya" could be on any side of the villa.
